In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add softened butter and mix with your hands until crumbly. You might need to wash your hands first!
Per serving
Add egg and vanilla extract to the bowl, and mix with your hands until the dough comes together.
Now it's time to knead! Push the dough down with your palms, fold it over, and push down again. Repeat this for about 5 minutes.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed. Use your hands to mix them in thoroughly.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and shape them into balls with your hands. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
